How do you know if the skincare product you buy is authentic?

Anyone who reads my blogs or visits my website, www.skincaresolutionsbyandrea.com knows, that the only products I sell, are cosmeceutical/pharmaceutical in origin.  Further more they all come out from an authorized dermatology office, where I work as an aesthetician as well.   We order our products through the representatives of the various skincare products companies.( I emphasize this on my website all the time.)

We keep the products at the recommended temperature and they are stored properly. If anyone develops a problem, the company stands behind the products, and fully reimburses the patient.

As an authorized office and website, we get special deals from the manufacturers from time to time and we pass the saving down to the clients.

What happens when some one buys on line from a questionable site? How does any one know if the product is the real one, not expired or stored properly? If it’s rancid, how easy to return it? Do you get your money back?

When something is too good to be true, it often is. When a products sells below whole sale price, it is kind of fishy..

SkinMedica, Skinceuticals sends out letters regularly to their accounts, warning them about non authorized sites. They are not only doing this to warn us, but mainly to protect the consumers. Kinerase Pro Plus Therapy is adding tracking code to the packaging, and won’t be available on any website anymore.

What are the three most important products for an anti-aging skincare routine

My clients ask me this question all the time…”What can I use to delay the inevitable?”

When we are dealing with anti-aging skincare, for mature skin, you need three things..growth factors, antioxidants and a Reti-A or Glycolic  acid product.

What growth factors do?

The connection between diet and skincare

Is there a connection, or is this a myth-or this is more like an old wife’s tale?

Of course we are what we eat. And eating healthy is always a good idea. But there is no correlation, for example, between junk food diet and acne. Over the years, I treated kids with the worst acne condition with the best possible organic food diet… And the opposite is also true. Kids with fast food diets can have great complexions – unless, of course, some one has food allergies, which is a game changer..

Same with washing the face. While body hygiene is very important, how easy would it be just to wash the acne away.. I remember that two teenage boys on my son’s water-polo team had to go on Acutane eventually..and no one could accuse them of not soaking all day in the chlorinated swimming pool..twice a day!

But what’s bad for you is unprotected sun exposure, smoking, and too much alcohol. If some things are aging the skin, well, you don’t have to look further..

Keeping track on what’s good for us is not always easy in our busy lives, but we can always use common sense -  and moderation is the key..
